julimagination: New Year's Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions

Happy holidays, fellow citizens of the interwebz!

First of all, I'd like to wish you a merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, epic Kwanzaa, happy New Year, and joyous whatever else I missed. I hope Santa / the Kwanzaa fairy / whatever the kids who celebrate Hanukkah get has treated you well. I really should read up on that so I don't sound so ignorant.

I thought I'd post my New Year's Resolutions here, and encourage you all (if you have not yet) to make a nice list of goals to better yourself this year. Don't question the probability that these things will actually improve. Just do it. Because I said so.

So, without further banter, here are my New Year's Resolutions...

{1} Establish a systematic and practical routine, and then STICK WITH IT! I'm often either catastrophically unorganized or hyper-organized, and I've decided that now's the time to find a good balance of work, school, and life. And then I actually have to carry out my plan. Which is the hard part.

{2} Don't forget the glasses. I'm nearsighted, and so I always get up and carry out my morning routine, and forget my freaking glasses. And then, on the way to school, I realize I can't read any of the road signs until I'm right on top of them. So, as simple as it may be, I need to remember to put on my glasses.

{3} Be open-minded. I think I need to start doing more listening than talking. I'm going to try to be more patient with people, and learn to speak out less.

{4} Stay organized. I think this has been on every list of goals that I've had since I was about five years old.

{5} Pace yourself. I have a track record of finishing things at the last minute. I think something about the pressure kind of encourages me to get things done. But I've still gotta learn to use my time wisely.

{6} Adhere to a healthy diet and exercise plan. Obvious.

{7} Conserve resources. Also obvious.

{8} Back up files more often. It seems like the day my computer flips out is alway that one day that I forgot to save something or back it up.

{9} Don't procrastinate! This has also been on every list of goals I've ever had to make.

{10} Keep a positive attitude. A lot of my close friends tell me that I complain constantly when I'm under a lot of stress.

{11} Blog more. I often think of a good idea for a blog post and then never get around to it. I think I'm going to keep a blog journal, and not lose it this time.

{12} Have some julimagination.
